Rail Travel
Most walks are accessible by rail from London and other towns in the south-east.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the average age of the walkers? This varies considerably - from early twenties to sixties plus, the average tending towards the centre of these two bands.
Will I feel comfortable if I come on my own? Many more people come on their own than with partners, enjoying the social experience and friendliness of other walkers.
Do the walks finish at the same place as they start? Yes, most walks are circular. If not, this will be clearly stated. We would then use a train or bus to return to the starting point.
If the weather is bad, will the walk still take place? Yes, we will always be there, whatever the weather! There is no need to check. And remember: there is no such thing as bad weather - only unsuitable clothing! And bring your umbrella - it makes a difference!
To Join a Walk
There is no need to book. Just turn up at the designated meeting place where we will always be there to welcome you, whatever the weather.
Grades & Timings
Grades take into account pace, gradient and terrain.
Grade A: Easy relaxed pace but not a stroll, led at about 35 minutes per mile; mostly level terrain
Grade B: Moderate pace, led at about 30 minutes per mile; some gradients, suitable for most walkers
Grade C: Brisker pace, led at about 25 minutes per mile; more strenuous, sometimes rougher terrain and more gradients; for fit walkers only
Timings include brief stops for commentaries (, but exclude lunch stops (normally 1 hour) and visits to places of interest where applicable.
Nordic Walkers: The pace will be faster than that suggested above and there will be no commentaries
The Cost
Full day walks (6-15 miles) £12
Half day walks (3-5 miles) £7
Refreshments
We select the best available venues for lunches and snacks - generally pubs. Where possible we reserve tables, obtain menus and phone orders through at the start of the walk.
Bring a packed lunch if you wish: there is always somewhere nearby where you can enjoy it
Advice for New Walkers
Grades: If in doubt about your walking fitness, start with an easy ‘A’ grade walk or seek our advice.
Meeting Time: Unless you are familiar with the area, allow plenty of time to get to the venue. The walks should start within five minutes of the stated time.
Walking Gear: We are happy to advise on the purchase of boots, socks, waterproofs, etc
Nordic Walkers: We will check your technique but we assume you already have basic skills
Children
The walks may not be suitable for children under ten years of age. However, if you feel your child can keep up with the pace and length of the walk, then he or she would be welcome. There is no charge for children under sixteen.
