Friday 2 April Dorking 8 miles
(Meet 1100 outside Dorking Station, off A24 (large carpark). Rail travellers depart London Victoria 1001, arrive Dorking 1050 or depart London Waterloo 0954, arrive Dorking 1041) A short tour through historical Dorking then, following in the footsteps of medieval pilgrims to countryside of great scenic contrast; ancient hillside tracks with grand vistas to distant hills and beyond, gentle paths through meadows, woods and charming old hamlets. Lunch at the Wotton Hatch, one of the most popular inns in Surrey. (Grade B) (Finish approx. 1630)
Monday 5 April Farncombe 6, 7 or 10 miles
(Meet outside Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford, adjacent to Millbrook carpark on A28. Rail travellers depart London Victoria 0936, arrive Clapham Junction 0941, depart Clapham Junction 0952, arrive Guildford 1023 or depart London Waterloo 0930, arrive Guildford 1003; meet outside station at 1030 for accompanied walk to meeting point at Yvonne Arnaud Theatre) A gentle, picturesque route along the River Wey, in the steps of pilgrims to ancient Compton. A scenic stretch of open fields and woodland glades to historic Godalming. Lunch at the excellent Withies Inn, tea at Farncombe Boat House. Train back to Guildford from Godalming (after 6 miles), or train from Farncombe (after tea after 7 miles, or walk an extra 3 miles back along the towpath to Guildford (10 miles). Saturday 24 April London Parks 4 or 8 miles
(Meet 1030 Victoria rail station ticket office) A circular guided walk through London’s most beautiful parkland: St James’s, Green Park, Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens; many features throughout of outstanding landscape, architectural and historical interest. You can either finish after 4 miles at Kensington Palace or join us at lunchtime at Kensington Palace Orangery for the 4-mile return walk through the parks by a different route or of course you can enjoy all 8 miles. (Lunch approx. 1300-1400 at the splendid Orangery in the grounds of Kensington Palace. To meet at lunchtime at the Orangery, the nearest tube is High Street Kensington, 4 stops on the circle line from Victoria; approx. 15-minute walk). (Grade A) (Finish approx. 1630 after 8 miles)

Monday 31 May Cookham, Thames Valley 7 miles

Rail travellers: train times unavailable at time of publication; details will be emailed to subscribers nearer the time) A scenic guided walk with many features of interest including fine views from Winter Hill overlooking the winding Thames, Kenneth Grahame’s Wild Wood (inhabited by Badger, Mole, Ratty and Toad), with extracts from Wind in the Willows. Descending to the National Trust’s Cockmarsh, we follow the towpath to historic Cookham, home of Stanley Spencer, visiting his famous art gallery. Lunch at The Jolly Farmer, Cookham Dene. Saturday 26 June White Down/Logmore Lane 4 or 8 miles
(Meet 1030 for 4-mile White Down walk or 1400 for 4-mile Logmore Lane walk, or combine the two for 8 miles, both meeting at the Wotton Hatch Inn, large carpark on A25 Dorking to Guildford road, approx. 2 miles west of Dorking. (Grade B) Logmore Lane: A walk of scenic delight through woodlands and meadows, beside streams, to a small picturesque hamlet complete with millpond. Lunch at the popular Wotton Hatch Inn, Wotton. Easy, level walking beside the River Thames to Home Park and Hampton Court’s beautiful gardens, ablaze with the colour of spring flowers. Lunch in the Tiltyard Tearooms or local inn. After lunch, simply return to the station, visit the palace or continue with us for a further 3 miles to Bushy Park and the magnificent Woodland Gardens. Saturday 17 July Mickleham/Box Hill 5, 4 or 9 miles
(Meet 1030 for 5-mile Mickleham Down walk or 1415 for 4-mile Box Hill walk, or combine the two for 9 miles, both meeting outside Running Horses, Mickleham Village, off A24, near Dorking.
