What to wear and What to bring for Nordic Walking:
The loan of poles is included in the class fee. During the course we will advise you about purchasing your own poles.
What to wear:
•Trainers or comfortable walking shoes with flexible soles are ideal but if it rains you may prefer walking boots to keep your feet dry
•Clothes you would normally wear for walking, depending on conditions on the day. (Layers are best so that you can make adjustments as you warm up).
What to bring:
•Small bottle of drinking water
•Lightweight waterproofs if rain is likely
•Small rucksac for carrying water, waterproofs and any extra layers.
It is important that you do not wear anything bulky or anything which would interfere with your arms swinging close and freely at the sides of your body.
Practice Walks:
The loan of poles is not included
What to wear:
•As above
What to bring:
•As above
•Nordic Walking Poles (These should not be confused with Trekking or Walking Poles: please seek our advice if in doubt).
Useful kit for established
Nordic Walkers

•Dedicated Nordic Walking Shoes such as Asics Gel Nordic Gore-Tex are available from specialist outdoor shops. (These are similar to trainers but waterproof with excellent all-terrain grip and shock absorption, providing stability for the middle foot and flexibility for pushing off)
•Small narrow rucksac obtainable from running shops such as ‘Run and Become’
•Light foldable zipped pole bag useful for carrying poles on public transport such as the one manufactured by Exel
