Guided Walking Breaks
About the Weekend Walking Breaks
Our aim, is, quite simply, to make your short walking break as memorable as possible in countryside you will never forget, combining fresh air with exercise, tranquility and beauty, companionship and comfort and an insight into an area’s history and culture. Our carefully-crafted guided weekend walking breaks and guided walking holidays will leave you refreshed, relaxed and restored.
Our guarantee: We can promise you a wonderful time: the number of our walkers who return year after year demonstrates this. If you have not walked with us before, and would like to try us out first before commiting yourself to a holiday, why not join us on one of our day walks in Surrey, Kent, Thames Valley or London.
Accommodation and Restaurants: We select quality hotels, inns and restaurants for their location, comfort and award-winning cuisine included ‘AA rosettes’. All rooms on our guided walking breaks are ‘en-suite’, inspected by us and the relevant Tourist Board. Most of our hotels are recommended by Johansens, Alastair Sawday or ‘Best Loved’. We lunch at hand-picked country pubs, a highlight of our days out!
Our Guests: Our groups comprise a mix of couples, friends and solos who enjoy the spirit and camaraderie of our friendly groups. You can always be sure of a very warm welcome.
Routes: We meticulously research areas for the most tranquil paths, the most beautiful scenery and variety of terrain. With us you will tread local paths well away from the crowds, discovering a variety of hidden rural gems and secret idylls.
Commentaries: To enhance your walking experience, we share our knowledge and expertise to highlight features of special interest, natural and man-made.
Leaders: All our walking tours are personally led by us, June and Aubrey. Our small company, ‘Country Walks’, is our passion and we love sharing our enthusiasm and knowledge with our guests.
Grades: For information on grades, please see About the Walks
Transport: All our guided weekend walking breaks are accessible by rail; full details are sent with booking confirmations. We arrange shared taxis for onward travel to hotels and car-sharing where possible. On some walking breaks we use shared cars where just a short journey is involved to the start of a walk; walkers without their own cars will always be accommodated.
