Follow in the footsteps of Jane Austen as you traverse Juniper Top, a little-known part of the North Downs. The views from grassy hilltops are superb. In contrast are beautiful woodland trails featuring fine box, yew and beech trees. Discover and walk Roman Stane Street on your way to the ancient village of Mickleham for lunch at an ancient hostelrie.

The trail finally takes you down hill to cross the River Mole by the famous stepping stones. If you prefer, there's a footbridge. There's the option to finish your day with a visit to Denbies Vineyard where, you may like to stop for tea or even a tour of the vineyard!

This is a favourite walk through unspoilt countryside still quite wild and remote. Our route keeps you well away from traffic. It's hard to believe that you are so close to London; in fact people say that the countryside reminds them of Scotland!

The walk takes you to a variety of habitats and landscapes. There's additional historical interest, including Leith Hill Tower. This is the highest point in southeast England. From here you can make out central London and the English Channel, some 26 miles away.

"At this time of year the autumn colours are spectacular and a wide variety of wild mushrooms are beginning to appear. You will probably see flocks of woodland birds including coal tits, blue tits, great tits, long tailed tits, nuthatches, treecreepers and goldcrests."
